REVISS was formed in 1992, as a joint venture company between the UK's Amersham International, PA MAYAK and Techsnabexport of Russia. REVISS formally combines Amersham's expertise in developing designs and handling radioactive products with MAYAK's extensive manufacturing capability. This heritage is the backbone from which REVISS has successfully grown its business under the brand identities of PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies™ and REVISS Isotopes™.

1940

Creation of British Thorium

by UK Government Ministry of Supply (Radium Management)

 

 

 

1948

Business transferred to TRC (The Radiochemical Centre - part of the UK government - UKAEA)

Responsibility for the commercial/civil development of radioactive isotopes

1958

TRC production of first Cobalt-60 sealed sources for dry storage irradiators X180 (RSL1800)





1962

World's first

commercial medical products irradiation plant 0.5 MCi Dry storage irradiator using TRC sources built by HS Marsh Ltd. for Johnson and Johnson, UK






1968

World's first 1 MCi irradiation plant

Dry storage irradiator using TRC sources built by HS Marsh Ltd. for Radona, Sweden




1982

TRC privatised as "Amersham International plc"


 

1958

First dry storage

irradiator built using TRC Co-60 sources

The UK Atomic Energy Authority's Wantage Research Laboratory request HS Marsh Ltd. to design a gamma irradiation facility







1967

World's first food irradiation plant

0.25 MCi dry storage irradiator using TRC sources built by HS Marsh Ltd. at Wageningen, Holland






1971

TRC established as a 100% government owned company - separated from UKAEA







 

1987

Amersham International purchases first Co-60 raw material from Russian reactors


1990

NUKEM GmbH, Germany purchases design rights and consultancy from Marsh Irradiators International







1992

REVISS established

Russian English Venture in Isotope Supply Services - as a joint venture between Amersham International, PA Mayak and Techsnabexport. To facilitate a reliable source of supply of Co-60 and other bulk isotopes used by the Amersham International healthcare, lifescience and industrial businesses



 

1987

Amersham International produces first X2089 wet storage Co-60 sources







1991

"PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies™" - Brand established

by Amersham International for Co-60 sealed sources and industrial irradiation products. 1st significant alternative to the market leader for Co-60 sources







1993

Partnership established between PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies, and NUKEM GmbH for the design and build of industrial irradiation plant

1994

World's first pumped liquids irradiator

for latex cross linking built by PURIDEC/NUKEM in Malaysia



1996

REVISS acquires PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies from Amersham International

New and innovative developments on the world's most well-established plant design of Marsh International are initiated

1st to offer external hydraulics to extend service cycle, reduce costs and improve reliability

1st to offer moveable track design to provide fine dose control

1st to implement PHI™ (pre-assembled hardware installation) to minimise plant downtime during upgrades and reduce costs in new plant installation


 

1994

First 2089-design sealed Co-60 sources produced by PA Mayak under the Amersham International quality system using UK components in a pioneering technology transfer

 













1998

REVISS quality system achieves ISO9001 accreditation

1st to establish detailed water quality requirements for the safe use of Co-60 sealed radiation sources in wet storage irradiators

1999

Launch of I-CON™

an integrated plant control system using an Industry standard Microsoft Windows ™ user interface to reduce operator training needs and simplify integration with existing management systems
1st PC based integrated plant control system to wholly supercede programmable logic (PLC) and relay logic control





 

2001

PURIDEC builds its' first U.S.A. plant

PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies
launches into the US plant building market with an 8 MCi, wet storage, double pass, tote irradiator


 

1999

REVISS partnership with CNEA

the Argentinean National Commission for Nuclear Energy - to secure a second ISO9001 compliant manufacture for Co-60 sources

First production of 2089-design Co-60 sealed radiation sources to ISO9001 standards in Argentina



2000

A new era for PURIDEC Irradiation Technologies

Purchase of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of MARSH plant designs from NUKEM GmbH

Unified water quality requirements established in partnership with major alternative supplier

1st to offer interactive source optimisation enabling predicative 3D dose distribution
